Key Qualifications:
Prior experience as a paraprofessional or instructional assistant in special education settings Demonstrated ability to assist students with severe disabilities and implement individual behavior plans Comfortable supporting medically fragile students; familiarity with feeding tubes, personal hygiene care, and mobility assistance Experience or willingness to learn use of assistive equipment, such as Hoyer lifts (training available if needed) Calm, supportive presence under pressure and a strong commitment to student dignity and well-being Collaborative team player who communicates effectively with teachers, therapists, and nursing staff
Core Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on instructional and personal care support to students, including those with complex medical and developmental needs Implement individual education program (IEP) accommodations as directed by teaching and therapeutic staff Monitor student health status and respond promptly to their physical and emotional needs throughout the day Assist with mobility, positioning, transfers, and use of medical equipment as required Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment Document observations and progress, communicating regularly with educators and healthcare partners What to
