In this role, you will focus on optimizing imaging control parameters and transducer performance to support high-quality clinical imaging. You will collaborate with experienced imaging scientists, engineers, and clinical sonographers to refine imaging performance and explore new approaches that push the boundaries of ultrasound technology. What You'll Do Optimize Imaging Parameters and Transducer Performance Lead probe-specific optimization of imaging parameters to improve ultrasound image quality across multiple imaging modes (e.g., B-mode, color Doppler). Apply expertise in acoustics or related fields such as optics, radar, or signal processing to optimize ultrasound transducer performance for clinical imaging applications. Configure and refine imaging parameters through SQL databases using insights derived from theoretical modeling, MATLAB simulations, and experimental testing. Conduct measurements using imaging phantoms and human subjects in controlled research and clinical environments. Collaborate with Clinical and Engineering Teams Partner with imaging scientists, engineers, and in-house clinical sonographers to guide system optimization and ensure performance aligns with real-world clinical needs. Support refinement of existing transducers based on clinical and market feedback. Contribute to the development of new transducer designs and imaging capabilities. Identify unexpected imaging behaviors or system issues and collaborate with technical experts to determine effective solutions. Advance Ultrasound Imaging Technology Explore new approaches to advance medical ultrasound imaging through independent research and experimentation. Develop signal processing algorithms, simulation tools, and software routines. Work with technologies such as
MATLAB, C, DSP, GPU
computing, and related signal-processing tools. Produce technical documentation supporting imaging research and development. What We're Looking For PhD in signal processing-based engineering, applied physics, electrical engineering, or a related discipline (MS with exceptional relevant experience may also be considered) Strong experimental and analytical skills Experience with MATLAB or similar signal processing toolboxes Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities Comfortable collaborating within small technical teams Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills Work Environment Primarily office-based with standard laboratory and office equipment Mostly sedentary work with occasional standing or walking during testing or collaboration Infrequent travel may be required (approximately 1-2 clinical trips per year) Mindray North America offers a competitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits, including a 401(k) with company match, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, disability coverage, FSA/HSA options, and more—all within a dynamic, supportive, and collaborative work environment.
