Taylor, TX 76574 The Power System Engineer will provide electrical engineering analysis and technical support for the interconnection of new generation resources to the electric power system. This role performs power system studies, evaluates generation interconnection applications, develops system models and analytical tools, and ensures compliance with applicable NERC Standards, Protocols, Planning Guides, and Market Guides. The position also supports future system planning, stakeholder communication, project tracking, and process improvements.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform electrical engineering analysis to support the interconnection of new generation resources Conduct power flow studies to evaluate the feasibility of proposed generation interconnections Analyze simulated power system study results and compare findings with actual operating data when appropriate Develop and maintain appropriate power system models for interconnection and planning studies Develop tools and procedures to support power system studies and analysis Evaluate current and future system conditions to identify potential operational or planning issues Develop technical solutions and recommendations to address current or future power system issues Review generation interconnection applications for compliance with technical requirements Evaluate applications against Planning Guides, Protocols, Market Guides, and applicable NERC Standards Document and communicate study findings, technical requirements, and recommendations Prepare technical reports based on detailed power system analysis Communicate technical requirements and study results to internal and external stakeholders Track project milestones from study request through commercial operation Maintain alignment with established interconnection queue procedures and requirements Identify opportunities to improve interconnection study workflows and processes Support improvements to data management and stakeholder communication processes Perform transfer analysis and other system studies as required Use analytical and programming tools to support power system engineering activities Develop queries and analyze data using applicable database technologies Perform additional power system engineering and planning activities as assigned
