Job Summary Embark on an exciting journey as a Falconry Apprentice, where you'll immerse yourself in the captivating world of bird of prey management and conservation. This paid apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to learn the art and science of falconry, working closely with experienced falconers to develop your skills in bird handling, training, and care. Join us to gain hands-on experience in maintaining the health and well-being of majestic raptors while contributing to wildlife preservation efforts. This role is perfect for passionate individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in wildlife management and conservation. Responsibilities Assist in the daily care and maintenance of falcons and other raptors, including feeding, cleaning, and habitat management Learn proper handling techniques for various bird species under supervision, ensuring safety for both birds and handlers Support training sessions aimed at enhancing bird agility, hunting skills, and responsiveness Participate in routine health checks and monitor birds for signs of illness or distress Help with educational demonstrations and public engagement activities to promote awareness of falconry and conservation Maintain detailed records of bird behavior, health status, and training progress Follow all safety protocols and best practices established by experienced falconers to ensure a secure environment Qualifications A genuine passion for birds of prey, wildlife conservation, or outdoor activities Strong interest in learning about avian biology, ecology, and falconry techniques Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions with physical stamina for active tasks Excellent attention to detail and commitment to animal welfare standards Willingness to follow instructions carefully and develop new skills through hands-on experience Prior experience with birds or animals is a plus but not required; enthusiasm and eagerness to learn are essential Good communication skills to engage with team members and visitors during educational activities Join us as a Falconry Apprentice and take your first step toward mastering the ancient craft of falconry while making a meaningful impact on wildlife conservation.
