Duty Locion:

FMC Devens, MA Duties Help Manages and directs the activities of a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals who are responsible for medical, dental, and allied health services (pharmacy, lab and x-ray) to the inme populion. Serves as a cost center manager to prepare estimes and administer an annual budget. Provides administrive supervision either directly or through the Assistant Health System Administror to subordine staff, i.e., Mid-Level Practitioners, EMTs, Pharmacist, Clinical Nurses, Medical Record Technician, Dental Assistant, contract medical staff, etc. Develops and coordines internal review systems to assure compliance of the standards of the American Correctional Associion (ACA) and the Joint Commission, as well as other regulory groups and higher agency authorities. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff's correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis. Major study - hospital administrion, public health administrion, or reled fields such as business or public administrion with course work in health care administrion.

OR Specialized Experience:

Progressively responsible analytical or administrive, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an opering health care facility or a higher organizional echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relionship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordinion of administrive, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: Missions, organizions, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems Regulions and standards of various regulory and credentialing groups Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrive areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement.

Inservice Placement:

Successful completion of an agency-sponsored on-the-job training program may be substituted for qualifying experience, provided it included a formal individualized training plan. Such a training program must have been conducted in an opering health care system and included: Assignments providing a knowledge of basic health system administrion philosophies, practices, and procedures, and basic government administrive policies and requirements; Practical assignments providing an opportunity to apply health system administrion skills and principles (as the individual progresses, work assignments must be characteristic of the grade level to which he or she is assigned); and Oversight by an experienced health system administror with periodic evaluion of the individual's progress and approprie adjustment of the training program. Experience:

GS-12 and GS-13: You must have least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualificions to successfully perform the duties of the position and must typically be in or reled to the position to be filled. Some examples of the qualifying specialized experience are: GS-12: Experience th demonstres knowledge of Joint Commission on Accredition of Health Organizions (JCAHO) Ambulory Care standards, American Correctional Associion (ACA), and program review standards. Experience supervising a full range of medical administrive services including fiscal, personnel, supply, medical records administrion and hospital housekeeping. Experience participing in the development, implemention and monitoring of administrive and clinical policies and programs as it reles to health care services. Experience coordining purchases and/or contracts for supplies, equipment, specialty care or ancillary services and maintaining par inventory levels.
