Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and personable Receptionist at Providence Animal Hospital to serve as the first point of contact for clients and their pets. This vital role requires a professional with excellent communication skills, a compassionate attitude towards animals, and the ability to manage administrative duties efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in veterinary administrative support, customer service, and animal handling, ensuring a welcoming environment for clients and their beloved pets while supporting the smooth operation of our veterinary practice. Responsibilities Greet clients and their animals warmly, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience from arrival to departure. Manage front desk operations, including scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and maintaining accurate client records using veterinary software. Collect payments and process medical billing in compliance with Veterinary Medical Collection procedures. Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions, upcoming appointments, and treatment plans using veterinary terminology. Ensure adherence to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations and USDA guidelines related to medication handling and record keeping. Maintain knowledge of veterinary critical care practices, animal husbandry, kennel procedures, and basic animal anatomy to assist with client inquiries or minor animal care tasks. Requirements Proven experience in veterinary clinic administration or front desk support within an animal hospital setting. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, medical-surgical procedures, and companion animal medicine. Familiarity with veterinary software systems such as Otto & Impromed is preferred. Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive client interactions professionally. Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and correspondence purposes.
