A Nursing Assistant provides hospital and nursing home patients with basic care and assists them with daily activities. Helps patients with dressing, washing, and feeding. May perform basic medical care under the direction of a nurse or other medical professional. These roles typically require completion of a regional agency-approved training program in order to obtain a certification before practicing.

Competitive and based on experience Position Summary Principle Hospice Service is seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide personal care and emotional support to hospice patients in their homes, assisted living communities, group homes, and other residential settings. The Hospice CNA works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and follows each patient's individualized plan of care. The ideal candidate understands the importance of dignity, comfort, respect, and compassionate support during the final stages of life. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide personal care according to the patient's individualized hospice plan of care. Assist patients with bathing, grooming, dressing, oral hygiene, toileting, and other activities of daily living. Assist with transfers, repositioning, mobility, and ambulation while following appropriate safety procedures. Provide skin care and help prevent pressure injuries through proper positioning and observation. Change bed linens and maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable patient environment. Assist with feeding and hydration when included in the plan of care. Observe and promptly report changes in the patient's physical condition, behavior, comfort level, or emotional well-being to the supervising nurse. Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to patients and their families. Respect each patient's privacy, dignity, cultural background, spiritual beliefs, and personal preferences. Document all visits and services accurately and within required timeframes. Follow infection-control procedures, safety standards, HIPAA requirements, and agency policies. Communicate professionally with patients, families, caregivers, nurses, physicians, facility staff, and members of the interdisciplinary hospice team. Attend staff meetings, in-services, care conferences, and required training. Travel safely to patient homes and facilities throughout the assigned service area. Perform other hospice-related duties within the CNA scope of practice, as assigned. Qualifications Current and active Texas Nurse Aide certification or registry status. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Hospice, home health, long-term care, or personal care experience preferred. Current CPR or Basic Life Support certification preferred. Valid Texas driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance. Ability to successfully complete required background checks, health screenings, and employment verification. Ability to communicate effectively in English; bilingual English and Spanish skills are a plus. Basic electronic documentation and mobile-device skills preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Compassionate and respectful approach to patients experiencing serious or terminal illness. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and patient confidentiality. Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to work independently. Strong observation and communication skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to respond calmly and professionally in emotionally sensitive situations. Ability to work collaboratively with the hospice interdisciplinary team. Commitment to providing patient-centered care with dignity and respect. Physical Requirements The employee must be able to: Stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and remain physically active throughout the workday. Assist with positioning, transferring, and supporting patients safely. Lift or move up to 50 pounds, with assistance or approved equipment when necessary.
