Duties Dispense medications accurately in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols, including IV infusion and aseptic technique. Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine appropriate pharmacotherapy, considering pharmacology, physiology, and medical terminology. Manage medication therapy for diverse patient populations, including pediatrics, oncology, critical care, ICU, and trauma patients. Ensure pharmaceutical regulatory compliance by adhering to drug regulation standards and hospital pharmacy policies. Collaborate with medical teams in acute pain management, emergency room cases, and post-residency clinical scenarios to optimize medication use. Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems and Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS) for documentation and medication management. Precept pharmacy residents and students, sharing expertise in pharmacotherapeutics, hospital medicine, and practice standards. Skills Extensive knowledge of pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to hospital medicine and critical care settings. Proven experience practicing as a pharmacist within hospital or acute care environments, including Level I Trauma Center experience and Level II Trauma Center experience preferred. Strong background in managed care principles, drug regulation compliance, and pharmaceutical regulatory processes. Skilled in IV compounding, medication administration techniques, and aseptic procedures for sterile preparations. Familiarity with hospital pharmacy systems such as EMR/EHR platforms and Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS). Ability to assess patients comprehensively through patient care initiatives involving patient service, medication therapy management, and patient assessment skills. Experience with emergency room protocols, ICU procedures, pain management practices—including acute pain—and post-residency clinical practice. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and precepting future pharmacists or pharmacy students.
