Job Description

Kennel Attendant/Dog Care Specialist Aspen Grove Bed and Breakfast Boarding Kennel - 1.0 Boones Mill, VA Job Details Part-time | Full-time $12.77 - $15.00 an hour 10 hours ago Benefits Employee discount Qualifications Companion animal handling Pet care sanitation protocols Pet care in outdoor settings Pet care facility experience Outdoor work Animal enclosure cleaning Dog handling Providing care for clients Full Job Description Our facility provides daycare and lodging. Previous kennel/daycare experience that can be verified is preferred and a plus. Longevity in work history is taken into consideration as we are looking for long term employees.
MUST WORK WEEKENDS/HOLIDAYS!
Please read carefully before applying. Dogs require care every single day , including holidays. Kennels must be cleaned in all weather conditions—heat, cold, and rain. The dogs do not care if you have plans, feel tired, or aren't feeling well. They depend on you for every aspect of their daily care. This is hard, physical work and it is not for everyone .
This Job Requires:
Showing up reliably, even when you don't feel like it A strong work ethic and the ability to take initiative Doing more than what you're asked without constant reminders Handling physically demanding tasks throughout your shift Taking one more dog out for playtime when you are already exhausted Pride in maintaining clean kennels and well-cared-for dogs
What Success Looks Like:
At the end of the day, the kennel is full of happy, clean, fed, watered, and content dogs resting comfortably in spotless rooms—while you're tired, dirty, and fulfilled knowing they were cared for because of your effort. This job is a lifestyle and a passion , not a "play with dogs" position. Many people want to "train dogs," "pet sit," or "hang out with dogs," but very few are willing to consistently show up and work hard.
Bottom Line:
Showing up means more than just being physically present. It means effort, accountability, and doing what needs to be done. Those who work hard will be rewarded accordingly, with bonuses, raises, paid vacations, etc. If this sounds like more than you can handle, please do not apply.
