Job Description

Elevate Assisted Mobility LLC is seeking a dependable, technically skilled Wheelchair & Mobility Equipment Technician to join our growing team. This is a hands-on, patient-facing position that combines technical skills, field service, equipment delivery, and customer care. Our technician plays an important role in ensuring each patient receives mobility equipment that is properly prepared, appropriately fitted, and supported throughout the life of the equipment. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well, enjoys solving problems, and is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with our team. Previous wheelchair or durable medical equipment experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with transferable experience in equipment repair, automotive service, maintenance, assembly, field service, or other technical environments are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Receive, inspect, assemble, and prepare power wheelchairs and mobility equipment for delivery Conduct in-home patient measurements and pre-delivery assessments Observe and document accessibility considerations that may affect equipment fit or use within the patient's home Deliver mobility equipment to patients and provide professional in-home service Adjust equipment within the technician's training and scope to support proper fit and patient comfort Educate patients and caregivers on wheelchair operation, charging, controls, safety features, and routine equipment care Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, adjustments, and minor repairs Coordinate additional service or repair needs when necessary Prepare and maintain purchase orders for wheelchair and equipment orders Maintain accurate documentation for measurements, deliveries, maintenance, repairs, and patient interactions Conduct follow-up communication with patients to ensure equipment continues to meet their needs and identify potential service concerns Maintain consistent communication with management regarding patient needs, equipment concerns, scheduling, and order status Operate and care for company vehicles and equipment safely and responsibly What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand, assemble, adjust, troubleshoot, and work with mechanical and technical equipment Previous hands-on experience in equipment assembly, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, automotive service, field service, or a related technical environment Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Professional communication and presentation Dependability, punctuality, and strong organizational skills Good judgment and practical problem-solving abilities Initiative and the ability to manage assigned responsibilities independently while knowing when to collaborate or seek guidance Attention to detail when measuring, assembling, documenting, and servicing equipment Comfort working directly with seniors and individuals with disabilities Ability and willingness to learn wheelchair-specific equipment, technology, and company processes Basic computer skills for documentation, email, purchase orders, and internal systems Qualifications Valid California driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to safely operate a company vehicle and follow company driving, parking, and vehicle-use policies Demonstrated mechanical or technical aptitude through previous work experience, training, or a related hands-on background Ability to safely perform the physical functions associated with receiving, assembling, moving, loading, unloading, and servicing mobility equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation Strong verbal communication and customer service skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Ability to travel for patient appointments, deliveries, and service needs as assigned Preferred Experience Experience with durable medical equipment (DME), power wheelchairs, mobility equipment, medical equipment, field service, equipment repair, automotive service, or similar technical work is preferred but not required. Schedule This is a part-time position with scheduling flexibility based on patient appointments, deliveries, service needs, and business operations. As Elevate Assisted Mobility continues to grow, this position has the opportunity to develop into a full-time role. Compensation Starting at $25.00 per hour. compensation increases for out of town deliveries.
