CNC Plasma Table Operator / Shop Helper Northwest Welding Associates Chesapeake, VA Job Details Full-time $28 - $32 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications Machine setup Dimensional inspection Metal fabrication Materials handling Equipment adjustment (production tasks) Full Job Description CNC Plasma Table Operator / Shop Helper •At least 5 year minumum experience•Northwest Welding Associates is seeking a dependable CNC Plasma Table Operator / Shop Helper to join our fabrication shop in Chesapeake, VA. This position will primarily be responsible for operating our CNC plasma cutting table using FlashCut CNC software , while also assisting with general fabrication and shop duties as needed. Responsibilities Operate CNC plasma cutting table using FlashCut CNC software . Load and run cut files, set material parameters, and make basic program adjustments as needed. Set up material and verify dimensions before cutting. Read and understand basic shop drawings, measurements, and cut requirements. Load and unload plate and other materials from the plasma table. Monitor cutting operations and make basic adjustments to maintain quality and accuracy. Troubleshoot basic table or program issues. Measure and inspect finished parts to verify dimensions. Clean, grind, deburr, and prepare plasma-cut parts for fabrication. Identify, organize, and stage cut parts for jobs. Assist welders and fabricators with material preparation and general shop work. Operate grinders, saws, drills, and other common fabrication tools. Assist with loading and unloading materials and maintaining material inventory. Keep the plasma table and surrounding work area clean and properly maintained. Perform general shop duties and assist with other projects as needed. Qualifications Experience operating a CNC plasma table or similar CNC equipment preferred. Experience with FlashCut CNC software is preferred , but training may be provided for someone with comparable CNC/plasma table experience. Fabrication or metalworking experience is a plus. Ability to accurately read a tape measure and understand basic dimensions. Basic ability to read and understand shop drawings and material sizes. Comfortable using grinders, drills, saws, and other hand and power tools. Ability to safely lift and handle materials associated with a fabrication shop. Dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to assist with a variety of shop duties. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. This is a hands-on shop position . While operating the CNC plasma table is a primary responsibility, the employee will also be expected to assist with welding, fabrication, material handling, cleanup, and other shop needs as required.
Pay:
$28.00 - $32.00 per hour
