Full Job Description Location:

Middleton, MA Shift:

7:00am-3:30pm EST Job type: 4 months contract #GRPB Job description: A Painter/Powder Coater prepares metal and other surfaces and applies a dry, electrostatically charged powder finish that is baked in an oven for a durable, corrosion-resistant coat Requirements High school diploma or GED; previous manufacturing, 1+ years' industrial painting, or powder coating experience Ability to stand and walk for extended shifts, frequently bend/stoop, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs regularly Surface Preparation & Setup Clean and prep: Clean, degrease, sandblast, or bead-blast metal parts to remove oil, dirt, and rust for optimal coating adhesion.

Masking:

Mask precision surfaces, threads, and plug holes using high-temperature tape or plugs per process sheets.

Hanging/Staging:

Load, unload, and hang parts onto conveyor lines, racks, or carts using proper hanging strategies and material handling equipment.

Coating Application Operate equipment:

Set up and operate electrostatic powder spray guns, feed hoppers, and reclaim systems.

Apply coating:

Apply an even, uniform layer of dry powder coating across various complex metal surfaces and structures.

Curing process:

Monitor curing ovens (temperatures and cycle times) to ensure the powder melts and bonds properly into a hard, protective film. Quality Control & Maintenance Inspect finishes: Inspect finished parts for coverage, thickness, runs, chipping, or contamination using digital thickness gauges and visual checks.

Rework:

Perform touch-ups or rework on defective parts to meet quality standards.

Equipment upkeep:

Clean spray nozzles, booths, and recovery systems daily; empty waste powder hoppers and maintain a clean work area.
