Job Description
Summary This position is located in Blum, TX. Transports hazardous materials and company products on extended routes between company locations and approved destinations, including longer-distance runs such as Blum to Midland. Independently manage trip planning, documentation, vehicle readiness, schedule coordination, and routine transportation exceptions. requirements. Complete required pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections; report defects or safety concerns. Verify loads, shipping papers, product counts, delivery instructions, placards/markings, and load securement before departure. Safely load, secure, transport, and unload hazardous materials and company products using approved procedures. Maintain required delivery, inspection, Hazmat, and driver log/ELD documentation as applicable. Follow defensive-driving, PPE, safety, security, hazardous-material handling, and site requirements. Communicate delays, route changes, incidents, product discrepancies, equipment concerns, and customer issues promptly. Maintain assigned vehicles, trailer, and equipment in a clean and serviceable condition. Obtain and maintain eligibility/authorization required to perform explosive-related transportation duties, including applicableATF/BATFE
Employee Possessor requirements. Maintain a valid Class A CDL with required Hazardous Materials Endorsement (HME) and all endorsements required for assigned equipment and loads. Meet applicable FMCSA driver qualification requirements and maintain required Driver Qualification File documentation. Remain qualified through the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse and comply with all applicableU.S. DOT/FMCSA
drug and alcohol testing requirements. Accurately monitor and maintain Hours of Service (HOS) records using the required Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and/or authorized manual logs, as applicable. Complete required company and regulatory Hazmat/driver training and refresher training within established timeframes, including General Awareness, Highway Transportation/Shipping Hazmat by Ground, Hazmat Safety, Security Awareness, Distracted Driving Prevention, Drug and Alcohol training, and vehicle inspection training applicable to assigned equipment. Requirements Communicate effectively in verbal and written form. Understand and abide by safety guidelines. Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Class A Commercial Driver's License. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 1 to 2 years of driving experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Advanced working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA and Hazmat transportation requirements, shipping papers, placarding/marking, securement, inspections, logs/ELD, and applicable emergency/security procedures. Ability to interpret and comply with customer-specific and well-site procedures while exercising sound independent judgment. Strong situational awareness, problem solving, field communication, customer service, and mentoring skills.
