Veterinary Assistant/Client Care Specialist Float 8 Coho Lane, McCall, ID 83638 $16

  • Part-time, Full-time The Float Veterinary Assistant/Client Care Specialist supports patient care, client service, and hospital operations across both clinical and front-desk functions. This role provides hands-on assistance during all aspects of veterinary medicine
  • including exams, procedures, surgeries, and treatments
  • while also serving as a key point of contact for clients.
The ideal candidate is adaptable, team-oriented, and passionate about animal welfare and client care, with strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and grow.
CLIENT CARE & ADMINISTRATIVE
Create environment and processes that contribute to client satisfaction and retention Facilitate resolution of client problems or communicate problems to Practice Manager Greet clients and patients warmly, creating a positive first and last impression Explain treatment plans, estimates, and invoices with clarity and empathy Support clients through all situations, including emergencies and end-of-life care Conduct follow-up calls regarding patient care and outcomes Maintain accurate and detailed client and patient records Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital guidelines Prepare and maintain medical records, consent forms, estimates and certificates Manage and ensure accurate billing and charges, process payments and balance cash drawer Monitor appointment flow, no-shows, and rescheduling needs
PATIENT CARE & VETERINARY ASSISTANCE
Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, procedures, surgeries, and euthanasia Obtain and record patient histories accurately Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for procedures and surgery Collect samples and perform routine lab tests as directed Administer medications, vaccines, fluids, and treatments as directed Safely restrain animals during exams and treatments Maintain and sterilize medical equipment and treatment areas Clean, maintain and sterilize instruments, equipment, and materials Perform other duties as assigned
HOSPITAL OPERATIONS & TEAM SUPPORT
Float between front desk and clinical areas based on daily needs Support all team members to ensure efficient hospital workflow Maintain exam rooms, lobby, and workspaces in clean and stocked condition Clean kennels, exam rooms, and common areas; sanitize surfaces Uphold a collaborative and supportive team environment Participate in shared cleaning schedule of bathrooms, breakrooms, and offices Keep workstation clean and orderly, dusting and wiping down as needed Monitor lobby and parking lot throughout the day for cleanliness Ensure exam and operating rooms are stocked
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required Experience in customer service, reception, or clinical veterinary settings preferred Veterinary Assistant training/certification preferred but not required
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Genuine liking for pets and pet owners and for working in an animal care environment Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications Ability and willingness to learn animal behavior and veterinary care Interpersonal communication skills to communicate with owners and other veterinary staff Ability to prioritize and manage different patient needs at one time Attention to detail to maintain accurate patient records Physical ability to restrain larger pets when necessary Display tact, clarity, and diplomacy in all communications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and noisy environments. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in using a computer keyboard. Additionally, hearing is required when providing phone and counter service. The incumbent may be around animals that are agitated or injured that may attempt to bite or scratch. The need to lift and carry animals and/or records weighing over 50 lbs also is required.
