Staff Accountant Trees Forever Marion, IA Job Details Full-time $50,000 - $65,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Health savings account Health insurance Dental insurance Flexible spending account Paid time off Employee assistance program Vision insurance 403(b) Qualifications Bachelor's degree Full Job Description Trees Forever is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant to support the organization's financial operation. This position ensures accurate financial recordkeeping, timely processing of transactions, compliance with organizational policies and accounting standards, and excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities Reconcile payroll reports and related general ledger accounts. Process invoices and employee reimbursements accurately and timely. Verify appropriate coding, approvals, and supporting documentation for all expenditures. Manage vendor records, including W-9 collection and maintenance, and coordinate annual 1099 preparation, filing, and distribution. Generate invoices and billing statements for contracts, grants, and other revenue sources. Record and reconcile incoming payments, deposits, and cash receipts. Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on past-due balances. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closings. Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and balance sheet/general ledger. Support grant and project accounting by tracking expenditures and revenues. Assist with account receivable invoicing requirements and timing. Assist with financial reporting and analysis as requested. Assist in the preparation and coordination of annual financial audits. Support grant audits, financial monitoring activities, and reporting requirements. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, grant requirements, and applicable regulations. Assist with implementation and documentation of accounting procedures and process improvements. Supports and/or back up payroll processing. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reporting. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's degree in accounting, or related field required. Three years of accounting/general ledger system, bookkeeping, payroll, or related financial experience. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and make decisions involving direction and implementation. Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while demonstrating strong organizational skills. Effective communication skills for customer service-oriented interactions with interntal and external staekholders.
Preferred:
Experience with Sage 50 Accounting Software or QuickBooks; experience with non-profit accounting; experience with payroll software systems.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
