About Us Chemist Spirits is a women-owned distillery in Asheville's South Slope neighborhood, and the company behind Antidote Cocktail Lounge and Coffee Bar. As a locally operated hospitality business, we care about collaboration, quality craft, continual growth, and genuine hospitality toward our guests and our team. Chemist of Biltmore Village is our second location, home to Penny Black, our speakeasy, alongside the Chemist's Parlor Bar - A daytime Coffee Bar, Mercantile and Tasting Room, and open late for alcoholic beverages. The Role We're looking for experienced, professional Baristas to open and run the daytime coffee bar at Chemist of Biltmore Village. The Parlor, our coffee bar inside the Chemist Mercantile and Tasting Room, is open from 7am to 2pm, before the evening team takes over. You'll run a specialty coffee program at a professional standard, and you'll also serve our spirits and simple cocktails and help guests choose bottles of Chemist Spirits to take home. We are a distillery first, and every member of our team is a brand ambassador for Chemist Spirits. You'll be trained on our spirits so you can talk guests through them with confidence. Training begins the week of October 20, ahead of our soft opening in late October or early November. Shifts run from 6am to 2pm, starting an hour before we open. Weekends are required. What You'll Do Prepare espresso drinks, brewed coffee, and tea to a consistent professional standard Dial in espresso daily and maintain grinders, espresso machines, and brewing equipment Serve Chemist Spirits and simple cocktails from our daytime menu Talk guests through Chemist Spirits products and help them choose bottles to purchase Act as a brand ambassador for Chemist Spirits with every guest Open the coffee bar and hand off to the evening team at 2pm with the space clean, stocked, and set up for success Maintain prep, cleanliness, and organization throughout the shift Support the team during service: fill in where needed, communicate clearly, and keep service running smoothly Communicate with management about what is working on the floor and what needs to change Uphold health code and NC ABC standards and responsible alcohol service What We're Looking For 2+ years of experience as a barista in a specialty coffee program Strong espresso skills, including dialing in, milk texturing, and latte art Working knowledge of coffee origins, brewing methods, and extraction Bartending experience is a plus, and a genuine interest in spirits and cocktails is required Proactive and independent. You see what needs doing and handle it, and you think creatively to problem-solve as needed Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork A commitment to internal hospitality within the team as well as hospitality toward guests Organized and effective during a busy morning rush Availability for early mornings, starting at 6am, and weekends Familiarity with POS systems (such as Toast) is helpful 21+ and eligible to serve alcohol in North Carolina (required by NC law) Why Work With Us?
