Category Health Information Management Job Type Contract Advance your career in health information management with a dynamic contract opportunity guiding a high-performing department. As the Health Information Management (HIM) Manager, you'll be entrusted with planning, coordinating, and overseeing all daily operations related to medical record management, release of information, coding, chart completion, and privacy workflows. In addition to managing the HIM department, you'll serve as the organization's Privacy Officer, taking a key leadership role in maintaining confidentiality and compliance within a healthcare setting.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm 40 hours per week 6-month contract
Key Responsibilities:
Direct day-to-day operations of the HIM Department, including staffing, budgeting, productivity, quality, and compliance. Oversee medical coding, release of information, and patient portal processes. Lead HIPAA privacy program, including policy development, privacy investigations, breach assessments, and compliance with federal and state regulations. Develop and support educational initiatives in HIM and privacy compliance. Serve as the primary Custodian of Medical Records and key collaborator with Compliance, Administration, IT, and clinical leadership. Monitor privacy risk, handle investigations, and implement corrective actions as needed. Ensure departmental financial performance and support organization-wide risk assessment and mitigation.
Qualifications:
Minimum two years of experience in medical coding; leadership in HIM strongly preferred. Recognized HIM, compliance, or healthcare privacy certification (or willingness to obtain). Deep understanding of HIPAA regulations, privacy practices, and policy development. Strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Associate or bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred. This is a contract position with a highly competitive compensation package of $2,700-$3,000 per week.
