Job Description

CUSTOMER SERVICE PRO
— We're Looking for the One Who Actually Gets It Comfort Services | Plainfield, IL | Full-Time | In Person Some people answer phones. Some people handle customers. And then there are the people who can take control of a conversation, make a customer feel taken care of, solve problems without creating three more, keep their cool when the day gets crazy, and somehow make the entire office run better because they're in it. That's who we're looking for. Comfort Services is hiring an experienced Customer Service Representative for our Plainfield office.
And to be clear:
This is not an entry-level customer service position. We're looking for someone who already knows how to communicate professionally, think on their feet, stay organized, juggle multiple priorities, and deliver a level of customer service that makes people remember your name. If you've spent years getting genuinely good at customer service and want to work somewhere that appreciates the difference between "answering the phone" and taking care of the customer , keep reading.
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY BE DOING
You'll be one of the first voices our customers hear when they contact Comfort Services. That makes this position important.
You'll:
Answer inbound customer calls, texts, and emails Schedule service appointments accurately and efficiently Listen to customers and figure out what they actually need Ask good questions instead of simply reading from a script Explain our services clearly and confidently Help turn customer inquiries into booked appointments Handle frustrated customers calmly and professionally Resolve problems whenever possible instead of automatically passing them along Process payments and update customer accounts Document customer conversations accurately Communicate with technicians, dispatchers, managers, and other office team members Follow through on commitments Help create a customer experience that makes people want to call Comfort Services again And yes, some days will be busy. Phones will ring. Schedules will change. Customers will occasionally be frustrated. Someone will need something five minutes ago. We need someone who can handle that without falling apart.
THE PERSON WE WANT
We're not looking for someone who simply meets the minimum requirements. We're looking for someone who takes pride in being really good at customer service. You may be a great fit if: You have 5+ years of customer service experience You are extremely comfortable speaking with customers on the phone You communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally You can have a friendly conversation without sounding scripted You know how to listen before responding You can calm down an upset customer without taking the situation personally You are organized and can manage several things happening at once You pay attention to details You follow through You are dependable You learn software quickly You can accept coaching without getting defensive You don't need someone standing over your shoulder to get your work done You care about doing things correctly, not just getting them off your desk You understand that great customer service is part personality, part skill, and part discipline
YOU PROBABLY WON'T LIKE THIS JOB
IF... We might as well save both of us some time. This probably isn't the right position if you: Hate talking on the phone Get overwhelmed easily when several things happen at once Prefer passing problems to someone else Struggle with punctuality or attendance Need constant reminders to complete basic responsibilities Think customer service means simply being nice Don't like being coached Are uncomfortable being held accountable for your performance There are plenty of jobs where those things may work. This just isn't one of them.

You'll Be Trusted to Think We believe procedures are important. We also believe good employees should be able to use their judgment. We want people who can learn how we operate, understand what we're trying to accomplish, and eventually become someone the team can count on to make good decisions.
