Duties and Responsibilities Teach a full-timeload of 24-load hours per academic yearfor undergraduate courses in elementary education, with a primary emphasis on early childhood and elementary literacy instruction. Design interactive and engaging classroom experiences that integrate faith into the curriculum and model evidence-basedpractices in early literacy, including the development of foundational reading and writing skills and effective instruction for diverselearners. Advise students on licensure requirements, degree progress, and professional development while coaching students in theprofessional and ethical practices expected of elementary educators. Supervise and mentor pre-service teachers through advising,field experiences, and student teaching. Collaborate with Education Department colleagues to strengthen the elementary educationprogram including contributions to accreditation reports and ensure alignment with state and national standards for educatorpreparation. Serve the university, community, and profession through committee work, partnerships with local schools,participation in faculty governance, and involvement in relevant professional organizations. Participate in professional developmentand continuing education to remain current with research, policy, and emerging practices in elementary education, early childhood literacy,and reading instruction. Conduct scholarly research and/or engage in scholarly activity that contributes to the fields of elementaryeducation, literacy education, teacher preparation, or related areas. Possess excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication,and organizational skills. Attend chapel and participate in the broader spiritual and community life of the university. Typical Qualifications Candidates must have a personal, vibrant faith and Christian walkand be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University. The candidate should have diverse teaching experiences and expertise in elementaryeducation methods, with demonstrated knowledge of and experience with evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with the Science ofReading. Experience teaching early childhood literacy is preferred. The successful candidate will contribute to our dynamic teacherpreparation program by preparing future elementary educators who are competent, caring, reflective, and prepared for world service.
