Duties and Responsibilities Teach a full-time load of 24 load hours per academic year,with responsibility for undergraduate courses in special education and inclusive practices and the potential to teach additional courses inelementary and/or secondary education based on background and program needs. Opportunities to teach graduate courses may be available in thefuture. Design interactive and engaging classroom experiences that integrate faith and learning while modeling effective,evidence-based practices for supporting students with disabilities and other diverse learning needs in inclusive educationalsettings. Advise students on licensure requirements, degree progress, and professional development while coaching students in theprofessional and ethical practices expected of educators, including thoughtful and appropriate use of person-first and identity-firstlanguage. Supervise and mentor pre-service teachers through advising and field experiences. Collaborate with EducationDepartment colleagues to strengthen teacher preparation programs including contributions to accreditation and program-review processes andsupport alignment with applicable state and national standards for educator preparation, particularly those related to special education andinclusive practice. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with local schools, special educationprofessionals, and other educational partners to strengthen clinical experiences and connections between university coursework and P-12practice. Serve the university, community, and profession through committee work, partnerships with schools and communityorganizations, participation in faculty governance, and involvement in relevant professional organizations. Participate inprofessional development and continuing education to remain current with research, policy, legislation, and emerging practices in specialeducation, inclusive education, and teacher preparation. Conduct scholarly research and/or engage in scholarly activity thatcontributes to special education, inclusive education, teacher preparation, or related areas. Possess excellent interpersonal, oraland written communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Attend chapel and participate in the broader spiritual andcommunity life of the university. Typical Qualifications Candidates must have apersonal, vibrant faith and Christian walk and be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of theUniversity. Additionalteaching experience in the elementary or secondary classroomis preferred. UndergraduateTeacher Education candidates may obtain licensure in All-grade (P-12) Art and Music Education, K-6 Elementary Education, and SecondaryEducation (grades 5-12) offered in Biology, Chemistry, English, English/Theatre Arts, Mathematics, Mathematics/Computer Science, Physics,Physics/Mathematics, Physical Science, Social Studies and Spanish.
