Senior Pipeline Engineer (PE) Water & Wastewater Conveyance | In‑Office | Southern California About the Opportunity An established Southern California engineering firm is making a strategic, high‑impact hire to strengthen its pipeline infrastructure practice. This role is for a Senior ‑level Pipeline Engineer who wants to be a true technical authority—not a PM with a pipeline title. You'll step into a position where your expertise directly enables project delivery, supports growing demand, and sets the technical standard for critical water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure across the region. This is a hands‑on, in‑office role designed for engineers who value collaboration, technical rigor, and ownership of their work. What You'll Be Doing Lead the technical design and delivery of pipeline conveyance projects Serve as Engineer of Record , including stamping plans Direct design approach, resolve technical challenges, and review detailed calculations and drawings Work on conveyance and storage systems for: Wastewater Recycled water Potable water Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers Collaborate closely with project managers, designers, and leadership in a highly interactive, in‑office environment Support proposals and pursuits as a technical contributor (not sales‑driven) What This Role Is Not ❌ A project‑management‑only position ❌ A treatment or process engineering role ❌ A remote or hybrid opportunity This role is for engineers who want to stay close to the technical work and be accountable for design quality and outcomes. Required Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license California PE strongly preferred Out‑of‑state PE considered only if able to obtain CA licensure quickly Strong background in pipeline conveyance design Water, wastewater, recycled water Demonstrated hands‑on technical leadership Experience acting as Engineer of Record Comfortable working fully in‑office Experience & Technical Scope 10+ years of relevant experience (flexible for strong technical depth) Pumping systems experience is helpful but secondary Treatment experience is not required and deprioritized Familiarity with hydraulic calculations, pipeline alignment, constructability, and design review Location & Travel Southern California-based Travel is primarily local to job sites Rare Northern California exposure possible No routine overnight or out‑of‑state travel expected Compensation $130,000 - $200,000 base salary Upper range aligned with highly technical candidates (20-25+ years experience) Competitive benefits package Compensation reflects technical responsibility and EOR accountability Why Engineers Choose This Role Real technical ownership and influence Stable backlog and meaningful infrastructure projects Leadership that values engineering judgment over titles Strong in‑office culture built around collaboration and mentorship Opportunity to shape and grow a core practice area Interested?
