Job Description
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of an accredited electrician's trade school, state-registered apprenticeship program or union apprenticeship program is required. Specialized training or certification in control circuits and power plant systems is highly desirable.Experience:
Five years of proven Journeyman experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of industrial electrical systems and equipment, including but not limited to high-voltage electrical systems, generators, relays, circuit breakers, motors, and electrical power distribution systems. Experience with high-voltage electrical systems up to 4160 volts. Expertise in troubleshooting, evaluating repairs, adjusting, calibrating, operating, and maintaining systems ranging from 4160 volts to 24 volts, including DC systems (125V), transformers, motors, interruptible power supplies (UPS), batteries, power generation equipment, and switchgear. Experience in maintaining environmental control systems, facility monitoring/control, (HVAC), and power systems is desirable.Licenses/Certifications:
Valid California State Electrician Certification Valid Journeymen Electrician Card CPR/First Aid Certification OSHA 10 CertificationNFPA 70E
CertificationI. BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, repairing, inspecting, troubleshooting, installing, and testing electrical systems. Equipment includes generators, controls, relays, circuit breakers, motors, electrical power distribution, voltage to 4160 volts, controllers, lighting, data gathering panels, electromagnetic protection devices, test equipment and other special electrical systems. Utilizes technical publications, diagrams, to accomplish maintenance, repair and ordering of material and equipment. Responsible for performing single person shift work, operating, maintaining, inspecting, testing and repairing engineering facility systems. These systems include electrical, (HVAC) heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, water, fuel, air, fire, facility monitoring and control and other associated systems. Maintains operations and maintenance records. Accomplishes shift schedule duties, other duties as assigned, emergency response and janitorial tasks.II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Operates, maintains, repairs, and inspects site electrical systems. Primary equipment includes generators, controls, relays, circuit breakers, motors, electrical voltage from 24 volts to 4160 volts, power distribution, controllers, lighting, data gathering panels, electromagnetic protection devices, test equipment and other special electrical systems/equipment. 2. Utilizes technical publications and diagrams. Maintains operations and maintenance records. 3. Performs single person facility shift work. 4. Operates, maintains, inspects, tests, and repairs engineering facility systems. Systems include electrical, (HVAC), heating ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, water, fuel, air, fire, facility monitoring and control and other associated systems. 5. Utilizes technical publications, diagrams, to accomplish and document maintenance and repair. 6. Completes all shift schedule duties including emergency response and janitorial duties.III. A. Responsibilities for Work of Others None B. Supervision Received Works under the general supervision of the CE Manager. Work is checked for results achieved. Defines own work assignments within specific guidelines.IV. WORKING ENVIRONMENT
A. Physical Tasks Requires walking, climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and working in confined spaces, using tools and equipment necessary for electrical system maintenance. Adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. B. Working Conditions Must be able to work any of three 8 hour shifts, or a combination of shifts, as assigned, to cover continuous facility operation. Must be able to work overtime as required.
