Job Type:
Full Time/ Direct Hire Position Summary The Jobsite Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination, and execution of custom residential construction projects in the field. This role serves as the company's on-site leader, ensuring projects are built safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with the Project Manager (Inside PM), the Superintendent oversees trade partners, monitors project schedules, identifies and resolves construction issues, and ensures that all work performed aligns with project plans, specifications, and company quality standards. The Superintendent acts as the eyes and ears of the project on-site and provides critical feedback to the Project Manager regarding schedule impacts, budget concerns, construction challenges, and client-related issues. This position is focused on field execution and technical construction management. Administrative tasks, budgeting, bidding, selections, and extensive project research remain the responsibility of the Inside Project Manager. Key Responsibilities Field Operations & Construction Management Direct and coordinate all on-site construction activities from site preparation through project completion. Manage and maintain project schedules in coordination with subcontractors and suppliers. Proactively adjust field schedules to address changing conditions, delays, and project requirements. Coordinate daily and weekly activities among all trades to maintain workflow and minimize downtime. Ensure all construction activities comply with plans, specifications, building codes, and company standards. Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional jobsite. Quality Control Conduct ongoing inspections of all work in progress. Verify workmanship meets company quality expectations before subsequent trades begin work. Identify deficiencies, errors, and potential quality concerns early and coordinate corrective action. Ensure construction details are executed properly and consistently throughout the project. Monitor materials and installations for compliance with project specifications. Problem Solving & Issue Resolution Identify potential construction challenges before they become larger project issues. Make sound field decisions based on construction knowledge, project objectives, and company standards. Troubleshoot technical construction problems and develop practical solutions. Escalate issues requiring budget, design, engineering, or client decisions to the Project Manager. Communicate schedule impacts, unforeseen conditions, and field concerns promptly. Trade Partner Management Build and maintain productive relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. Hold trade partners accountable for schedule commitments, quality standards, and jobsite conduct. Coordinate inspections, deliveries, and subcontractor activities. Verify subcontractors have the information and resources necessary to complete their work correctly. Communication & Collaboration Serve as the primary field representative of the company. Maintain continuous communication with the Project Manager regarding project progress, challenges, schedule updates, and budget impacts. Provide timely feedback regarding field conditions, change requests, and potential cost implications. Participate in weekly Superintendent/Project Manager coordination meetings. Participate in regular joint site visits with the Project Manager. Participate in weekly client meetings alongside the Project Manager to ensure clear communication and project alignment. Request information, documentation, or support from the Project Manager as needed to facilitate successful field execution. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate daily jobsite records, progress updates, and field notes. Document project milestones, deficiencies, and completed work. Track schedule progress and communicate variances. Report potential budget impacts, scope changes, and construction issues to the Project Manager in a timely manner. Qualifications Required Minimum 5 years of residential construction experience, preferably in custom home construction. Strong knowledge of residential building systems, methods, and sequencing. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents. Proven experience coordinating subcontractors and managing schedules. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Proficiency with construction management software, smartphones, tablets, and digital documentation tools. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred 10+ years of custom residential construction experience. Previous experience as a Superintendent, Lead Carpenter, Foreman, or Field Project Manager. Knowledge of local building codes and inspection requirements.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
