Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a resource classroom environment. Two positions are available, tailored to either Elementary or Middle School levels based on your preference. The role is located in the Athens area, serving students at both East Leroy Elementary and Athens High School, with a manageable caseload to ensure focused attention for each child. In this dynamic educational setting, you'll work closely with students requiring additional resources, empowering them to achieve their fullest potential. The contract begins as soon as possible and runs through early June 2027, providing long-term impact and consistency for your students.
Qualifications:
Active Special Education Teacher certification in Michigan (please provide a screenshot or copy with your application) Experience working in resource rooms or with students with diverse learning needs Strong communication skills for collaborating with general educators, support staff, and families Flexibility and problem-solving abilities in adapting lessons and meeting IEP goals
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction in a resource classroom setting for either elementary (caseload of 10) or middle school (caseload of 11) students Implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support student learning and development Collect data and track student progress toward IEP objectives Support inclusion and ensure all students receive equitable educational opportunities
Position Details:
Full-time, 35 hours per week
Schedule:
East Leroy Elementary (7:55 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.), Athens High School (7:35 a.m. - 2:40 p.m.)
Start/End:
