Key Responsibilities Domestic Payroll Execution:
Oversee and execute end-to-end US payroll operations accurately and on schedule, utilizing ADP Workforce Now.
System Troubleshooting & Error Resolution:
Act as the primary escalation point to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve recurring system errors, trial-and-error configurations, ADP vendor discrepancies, and third-party vendor setup issues (e.g., Fidelity 401(k) mapping and historical misconfigurations).
Manual Payroll Calculations:
Perform precise manual payroll processing, off-cycle payments, complex manual gross-ups, garnishments, and retroactive pay adjustments as a non-negotiable standard.
Equity & Stock Administration:
Process complex stock/equity events, non-qualified stock options, RSU vestings, and employee stock purchase plans (ESPP) in partnership with internal finance and accounting teams.
Rapid-Response Solutions:
Produce immediate, accurate workaround solutions to ensure timely payroll execution during ongoing system updates and data cleanup projects.
Audit & Reconciliations:
Perform rigorous internal audits, balance-sheet reconciliations, and SOX-level controls for payroll tax compliance, 401(k) funding, and quarter-end/year-end filings.
Required Qualifications & Technical Non-Negotiables ADP Workforce Now Expertise:
Advanced, hands-on user capabilities within ADP Workforce Now. Proven ability to audit, reconfigure, and navigate backend platform errors independently.
Manual Processing Proficiency:
Mastered ability to execute manual calculations and process manual checks/off-cycles quickly without reliance on automated workflows.
Equity & Public Company Experience:
Hands-on experience processing payroll for a publicly traded company featuring stock/equity compensation packages. Fidelity & 401(k)
Funding Troubleshooting:
Demonstrated experience investigating and correcting 401(k) setup issues and funding discrepancies between ADP and benefits vendors (specifically Fidelity).
Audit & SOX Preparedness:
Background in audit readiness, internal control frameworks, and compliance reconciliations.
Advanced Excel Skills:
High proficiency with complex formulas (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH), Pivot Tables, and large dataset reconciliations.
Availability:
Must be available for an immediate start. Preferred Attributes Strong problem-solving agility with a focus on immediate operational continuity. Comfortable working in a dynamic environment requiring rapid adjustments and manual oversight. Commutable distance to Tempe, AZ or Ann Arbor, MI for candidates interested in a potential conversion to permanent employment (100% remote candidates will also be fully considered for contract execution).
