We are hiring one on-site leader to run a building remodel on a military installation in San Miguel, CA. This is a hands-on field role with real authority. You are the person the owner's representative talks to every day, and you own production, safety, and quality on a single project with no split assignments. The project An interior and exterior remodel of an existing single-story building, converting it into general offices, a storage bay, and restrooms. Scope includes lead-containing paint abatement, wall framing, standing seam metal roofing, fiber-cement siding, hollow metal and wood doors, electrical service and receptacles, HVAC equipment and ducting, plumbing, restroom accessories, and interior finishes. Performance period is roughly 12 months. The building will be unoccupied during construction. What you will do Run day-to-day production and hold the schedule. Site Safety and Health Officer:
daily safety and health inspections, written inspection log attached to the daily production report, mishap investigations, OSHA Form 300, safety bulletin board, and a deficiency tracking system carried until each item is closed. Write and maintain the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and every Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA), formatted per
USACE EM
385-1-1 and submitted 15 calendar days ahead of each phase. Run the Contractor Quality Control program: three phases of control (preparatory, initial, follow-up), submittal review and approval, testing plan and log, rework items list, and QC certifications. Produce daily reports in Procore. The owner requires separate daily log entries for the Superintendent, the SSHO, and Quality Control, plus a minimum of 10 jobsite photos per day (10 interior and 10 exterior when both are active). Hold subcontractors to the accepted APP and AHAs. As the prime, we are the controlling authority for site safety, including our subs. Attend the preconstruction conference, the Coordination and Mutual Understanding Meeting, weekly QC meetings, and in-progress meetings. Coordinate first-tier abatement subcontractors and their Qualified Person / Competent Person requirements for lead and any asbestos-related work. 1910 and 1926 Current Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) certificate. This is not optional and not waivable. Other Able to pass installation access requirements for a military post Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Living within commuting distance of San Miguel, Paso Robles, Atascadero, or King City. This posting does not include per diem, lodging, or relocation. Nice to have Prior work on National Guard, USACE, NAVFAC, or state agency projects Procore experience, specifically the Daily Log, Submittals, and RFI tools Experience with lead-containing paint abatement oversight and California DPH abatement rules Experience writing APPs and AHAs that were accepted on the first submission First aid and CPR certification Schedule and conditions Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding government holidays. Work outside those hours requires 15 days advance written approval from the Contracting Officer, so overtime is rare and planned, not last-minute. The installation is non-smoking except in designated areas. Compensation Competitive salary depending on experience and certifications held, plus benefits.
