Being a student comes with one reliable financial upside: a lot of companies will knock money off for it. Phone plans, streaming, laptops, textbooks, mattresses, moving trucks — there’s a discount for most of it, and a fair number don’t require a college ID at all.
Here’s what’s available for the 2026–2027 school year, sorted by category, with the eligibility rules for each. Some are open from age 13. Others need a college email. A few just need you to ask.
Most offers require verification via UNiDAYS, Student Beans, SheerID, or ID.me. Always check the linked page for details — prices and terms change often. Local organizations (e.g., museums, theaters, retailers) often offer additional discounts if you show a student ID — don’t hesitate to ask!
About the tags. Eligibility varies a lot, so each verified entry is tagged: [College only] means you need to be enrolled in a college or university, and tags naming high school or an age range are open more broadly. Untagged entries mean eligibility wasn’t confirmed — check the linked page.
Not enrolled? You may still qualify. A growing number of these offers are age-based rather than enrollment-based, including Amazon Prime for Young Adults (18–24), Peacock (18–24), and United (18–23).
Tech & Electronics
- Apple: Education pricing on Macs and iPads for students, parents, and educators, plus 20% off AppleCare+ and Apple Trade In credit. Through September 24, 2026, Apple’s College Student Offer stacks a gift card on top of that education pricing — $150 with a MacBook Pro, or $100 with a MacBook Air, iPad Air, or iPad Pro. Note that Apple tightened its verification in May 2026: a .edu email address is no longer enough on its own, and you’ll need to confirm your student status through UNiDAYS. [College only]

Insurance & Banking
Auto insurers reward good grades rather than enrollment alone, and the savings land on the driver’s share of a policy — often a parent’s. That makes this a conversation to have with whoever holds the policy. Nearly all of these require a B average or 3.0 GPA plus full-time enrollment, verified by transcript or report card, and most cap out somewhere between ages 23 and 25. Typical savings run about 12%, or roughly $150 to $780 a year. Homeschooled students can qualify at Nationwide, State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, and Travelers by scoring in the top 20% on the SAT, ACT, or PSAT.
- Allstate: The good student discount applies to teen drivers who are 19 or younger, enrolled full-time in high school or an academic home study program, and can show school records with a grade average of at least B-. Allstate offers a number of other ways to save as well, so it’s worth calling a local Allstate agent to ask what’s available for college students specifically. [High school, 19 or younger]
- GEICO: Full-time college and high school students may qualify for a good student discount with a “B” average or better, a good driver discount if you haven’t had an accident in the past five years, and additional discounts through participating alumni associations, colleges, universities, and student organizations. Discounts are available in most states. [High school & college]
- Farmers Insurance: Several discounts aimed at young drivers, including youthful driver, good student, and distant student, plus savings through Signal, bundling, and multi-car policies. [Teen & young drivers]
- Nationwide: Ages 16–24, full-time high school or college, B average or better. [High school & college, 16–24]
- Progressive: Three discounts for students, all requiring that you’re on a parent’s or someone else’s policy rather than your own. The good student discount is for full-time students under 23 with a B average or better, starting at 5% in most states. The distant student discount is for students 22 or younger attending school 100+ miles from home without a car there. The teen driver discount applies if you’re 18 or younger. [High school & college]
- State Farm: The good student discount saves up to 25% for students with good grades, and the savings may last until you turn 25. There’s also a driver training discount for drivers under 21 who complete an approved driver education course, and a student away at school discount for students under 25 who move away for school and only use the car during vacations and holidays. Safe-driving programs like Steer Clear and Drive Safe & Save can lower costs further. [High school & college, under 25]
- U.S. Bank: No monthly maintenance fee for Student Checking. [Ages 18–24]
- Chase: High School Checking has no monthly service fee for ages 13–17, but needs a parent or guardian as co-owner with a linked Chase account. [Ages 13–17]
- Plus, lots of banks and credit unions offer free/no-fee student accounts.

[Ages 18–24, or enrolled college students of any age]
- Barnes & Noble College: Barnes & Noble runs many campus bookstores, where roughly three quarters of titles are available to rent at around 60% off buying new, and used copies save about 25%. Note that barnesandnoble.com discontinued its own textbook rental service, so check your campus store rather than the retail site.
- The Wall Street Journal: $4/month for digital with a verified .edu address. Check first — many schools provide WSJ access free through a campus partnership.
