The CAD Designer will be responsible for creating accurate drawings, models, and fabrication details that support the manufacturing and production of custom metal products. This position works closely with management and shop personnel, and will require meaningful time on the production floor ensuring that parts are produced efficiently and correctly. The ideal candidate has strong technical drafting skills, attention to detail, understands metal fabrication and manufacturing processes, and can manage multiple projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Key Responsibilities Create and revise detailed CAD drawings for metal parts and fabrication assemblies. Develop production-ready drawings, layouts, parts, assemblies, and fabrication details. Interpret customer drawings, specifications, sketches, and field measurements. Ensure drawings include accurate dimensions, materials, tolerances, and other information required for fabrication. Coordinate with management and shop personnel to resolve design and production questions. Review drawings for accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with project requirements. Make revisions based on customer feedback, field conditions, and production requirements. Maintain organized drawing files, revisions, and project documentation. Assist with material takeoffs and other technical information needed for estimating and production. Help identify opportunities to improve designs, reduce material waste, and streamline fabrication. Qualifications A minimum of 2-3 years experience with CAD/design software Previous drafting or design experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, structural steel, sheet metal, or a related industry is preferred. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Strong understanding of dimensions, tolerances, materials, and fabrication processes. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively with both office and shop personnel. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. A willingness to be nimble and quickly adapt to changes in the working environment, including shifting priorities as needed.
Pay:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
