  • Family like culture Job description First Call Environmental located in Ashland, VA is looking to add a full-time salaried Payroll Specialist/Admin Assistant to join our team due to growth.
This position will be responsible for maintaining employee records, processing payroll on a biweekly basis, managing tax and garnishment tasks, and other administrative duties as assigned. Responsibilities Check hours on employee timesheets in electronic timekeeping system Ensure proper record keeping and approval for wages, salary increases, overtime, or doubletime Manage tax set up, insurance deductions, 401k contributions, garnishments, etc. Calculate and process accurate payments to employees via Payroll system Ensure accurate tax set up for employees, state, and unemployment requirements Handle and respond to discrepancies and queries relating to payroll. Assistance HR Department with employee onboarding, benefit enrollment, record keeping, and other special projects as assigned Assist with coordinating travel arrangements across operations Help manage assets issued to employees (computers, phones, tablets, etc) while utilizing mobile device management systems and maintaining good vendor relations Troubleshoot technology issues, assisting or redirecting when necessary Manage PTO requests to include tracking and accurate company calendar Assist with company meeting organization and presentation Act as company representative for walk-in visitors Assist with company event preparations and miscellaneous errands Qualifications High school diploma is required Associates Degree preferred Experience with Paylocity and/or other payroll systems preferred HR experience is preferred but not required Proficient in MS Word and Excel, creating and using spreadsheets and databases. Demonstrates proficiency in using technology and digital tools required for job responsibilities Strong customer service skillset Skills This position will need to demonstrate the following skills: Must be detail-oriented, excellent numeracy and literacy skills Good timekeeping skills and an ability to meet strict deadlines Must be a critical thinker Ability to problem solve Ability to look at a process and suggest improvements Organized, logical and methodical approach Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Team player, must be able to work with all levels of the organization Ability to work with minimum supervision once trained Must be able to leverage Accounting/Payroll experience Experience using computerized payroll and accounting software Strong technical aptitude and ability to leverage technology Work Location and Job Details Normal work week at corporate headquarters is Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week. Potential to increase responsibility and earnings as the company grows.
