The Tallo Scholarship and Lyric’s Story
Lyric Wise, a high school senior from Philadelphia, PA, wanted to be the first person in her family to graduate high school and attend college. She did everything right in high school: She’s class salutatorian, National Honor Society president, and even started her own nonprofit to help her community. But when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and her mom’s hours at work were cut back, she knew the last thing standing in between her and her college dreams was the cost of getting a degree.
Lyric turned to Tallo to connect with scholarships and financial aid opportunities. She applied to what she believed to be a Tallo $10,000 Scholarship. We were inspired by her drive, intelligence, and determination to overcome barriers and stay focused on her goals. Good Morning America helped us pull off an incredible surprise: We awarded Lyric a $50,000 scholarship to pursue her dream of attending Drexel University in the fall!
