This position provides meaningful, holistic student support, and academic guidance. Primary responsibilities include assisting students in developing plans for academic degree completion, setting academic goals, and navigating the academic environment and requirements, including academic exploration within the undergraduate college and its five schools. The College Academic Advisor collaborates with students, colleagues, and campus partners to address challenges, offer solutions, and ensure students successfully progress through their chosen academic programs within Newcomb-Tulane College. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Skills in interpersonal written and verbal communication. Ability to communicate complex information to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Effective time management skills in high-demand work environment. Ability to learn and utilize specific software necessary for academic advising practice. Ability to work evenings and weekends during special events, as needed. Ability to implement student development practices. Ability to motivate and inspire students. Required Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field. 1 year of experience in academic advising, counseling, teaching, or dynamic student support. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or a related discipline. Familiarity with higher education policies, procedures, and academic systems.
