GENERAL JOB FUNCTION

To manage administrative tasks and coordinate outreach opportunities for Office of Student Retention and TN Promise Services. These responsibilities align with keeping a priority focus on the retention and smooth transition of TN Promise Scholars from entry to the university to an earned Associate degree and finally to a Cumberland University Bachelor Degree Program.

STANDARD EXPECTATIONS

Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Coordinate early warning and midterm notifications, which includes communication with academic coaches, faculty, advisors and coaches.
Coordinate and implement retention outreach initiatives. Maintain strong and consistent lines of communication with TN Promise students for the purposes of ensuring academic success, social integration, timely course registration, and the prompt completion of all additional TN Promise program requirements. Meet with early and midterm alert students to discuss study skills, academic resources, and strategies to finish the semester successfully.
Track meeting/intervention results from one-on-one meetings, as well as, meetings at-risk students have with advisors and coaches.
Monitor student attendance weekly and communicate with students who have excessive absences. Organize and coordinate Tennessee Promise outreach each semester.
Teach as an instructor and faculty member within Academic Affairs teaching one or more sections (as needed by the Executive Director of Academic Support) of Foundations of Scholarship and Learning, the freshman first year experience. Protect the confidentiality of information by preventing the unauthorized release, both verbally and/or in writing of student and university data.
Perform other duties/tasks as may be assigned and/or requested by the Executive Director of Student Support, Vice President for Enrollment Services, or the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.

DECISION MAKING AND MANAGEMENT

Position may have supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:

Master’s Degree in any discipline required.

Preferred:

Previous work experience in student retention, especially in student retention and success.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Excellent oral communication skills in writing, speaking, and marketing services.
Innovative and creative with an interest in creating programming and services tailored to the needs of unique student populations. Keen aptitude for connecting with students through texts, apps, or other forms of communication. Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality and unquestioned practice thereof.
Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
Multi-task oriented and the willfulness to manage unforeseen tasks and challenges. Computer knowledge and skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Access.
Interpersonal skills specifically with undergraduate students.
Record keeping and reporting skills and an ability to collect, populate, and analyze statistical data.
Demonstrated leadership skills and a desire to improve upon them though personal and professional development.
