We are looking for an experienced A/R Collection Specialist to perform the tasks of insurance follow-ups, appeals. The candidate must have knowledge of insurance contracts and claims processing. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, function within a team, and be a multi-tasker. Our Collection Specialist should exhibit professionalism and trustworthiness. Responsibilities Reviews outstanding insurance claims and contacts carrier for resolution Work new and old AR; work closely with payers file, and follow-up on appeals; work insurance denials and zero pay. Monitor accounts to identify outstanding debts. Performs follow-up activities in a timely manner on all accounts to ensure prompt payment. Identifies coding or billing problems from EORs and works to correct the errors in a timely manner. Review denials as they come in to monitor trends. Prepares accounts for rebilling; sends to carrier with necessary documents, as needed. Completes and files appeal to different payers for short payments and/or denials. Updates the patient account record to identify actions taken on the account. Investigate historical data for each debt or bill. Take actions to encourage timely debt payments. Update account status records and collection efforts. Work special assignments when needed. All other duties as assigned. Skills Proven experience as a Medical Collection Specialist. Knowledge of billing procedures and collection techniques. Familiarity with laws related to debt collection. Working knowledge of MS Office and databases. Knowledge and understanding of ICD-10 and CPT codes. Excellent communication skills (written and oral). Skilled in negotiation. Problem-solving skills.
