Role:
Preserves Credit Union assets by controlling delinquent accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments, counseling with members, and/or recovering collateral.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Contacts delinquent accounts by phone and mail. Advises and counsels members of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment. Takes appropriate action to bring account to a current status. As necessary, helps members create custom payment plans to repay the Credit Union. Analyzes financial situation of delinquent borrowers. Makes recommendations to repossess collateral when arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful. Maximizes the collection and/or recovery of Credit Union assets from delinquent and charged off accounts. Sets up and maintains accurate files and reports on all collection’s activity. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

All functions are efficiently, effectively and accurately performed and in compliance with established policies and procedures. Demonstrates strong independence and follow through on job assignments. Proactively completes tasks, solves problems and recommends EFCU products and services. All communications with members, vendors and employees are professional, courteous, clear and concise. Written correspondence is free from spelling and grammar errors. Is trustworthy and performs in a positive, constructive and supportive manner. Consistently reliable in attendance, punctuality and dependability.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience One year to three years of similar or related experience. Education A high school education or GED. Interpersonal Skills Must have good listening and communication skills. Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation. Other Skills Must have the ability to work independently and maintain an effective and efficient schedule of workflow.
