Job Description

Consumer Loan Collections Specialist 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars Milton, MA 02186 We are looking for a dedicated Consumer Loan Collections Specialist to join our team in Milton, Massachusetts on a temporary/temporary to hire opportunity. In this long-term contract role, you will be responsible for assisting borrowers with resolving delinquent loan accounts while maintaining compliance with industry regulations. This position offers an opportunity to make meaningful contributions in the banking sector.

Responsibilities:

Negotiate repayment plans and settlements with borrowers, ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory standards. Review loan and mortgage account histories to identify effective solutions for addressing delinquency. Maintain accurate records of all borrower communications and agreements in the system to ensure legal and administrative compliance. Educate borrowers on loan terms, penalties, and payment options to foster positive relationships and facilitate debt recovery. Follow federal, state, and local regulations, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, in all collection activities. Collaborate with internal teams, such as credit and risk departments, to escalate accounts and ensure proper handling of complex cases.

The role involves managing delinquent loans by reaching out to members, negotiating payment arrangements, sending written correspondence, and maintaining accurate records. The specialist will ensure compliance with policies, federal/state regulations, and oversee third-party vendors. Responsibilities include handling bankruptcy filings, loan modifications, credit report disputes, and recommending repossessions or foreclosures. Additionally, the position involves preparing reports, tracking delinquent accounts, maintaining collection software, and assisting legal counsel as needed. Performance reviews and other duties supporting the organization’s mission are also part of the role.

Required Experience & Skills:

Extensive loan collections experience, preferably in financial services. Knowledge of secondary market and Fannie Mae guidelines. Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant software systems. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking. Effective written and verbal communication.
