Collections Coordinator 3.2 3.2 out of 5 stars 765 Washington Street, Bath, ME 04530 Job Summary This position is responsible for the collection of past due and delinquent consumer loan accounts. The incumbent initiates action to recover credit union funds up to and including repossessions and court actions. Duties 1. Monitor delinquency reports and queues. Contact delinquent members via multiple communication channels; make arrangements for acceptable repayment of debt. 2. Proactively seek solutions for members experiencing financial hardships. 3. Follow up on negative balance matters as appropriate and ensure non-performing accounts are closed out in a timely fashion. 4. Evaluate, prioritize and collect on prior charged-off accounts. 5. Compile accurate record of member contact and collection efforts/results. 6. Initiate and process repossession of collateral when appropriate. File Lender’s Single Interest (LSI) claims as needed. 7. Represent credit union to counsel and courts in a professional manner. Place liens on property through the Maine court system to better repayment as appropriate. 8. Responsible for responding to credit bureau dispute verifications. 9. Prepare charge-off recommendations for Board approval. 10. Assist in the resolution of delinquency problems and issues. 11. Process returned check posting and maintain accurate records of returned checks received. 12. Follow up on lapsed or cancelled homeowner’s insurance policies. Assist with the foreclosure process as necessary. 13. Actively promote the credit union and cross-sell its products and services to members. 14. Ensure that actions conform to applicable policies and regulations. 15. Respond to changes in organizational needs in a positive manner, performing other tasks as needed. 16. Respond in a positive, professional manner to member questions or problems. Requirements Experience One year to three years of similar or related experience Education A high school education or GED Interpersonal Skills Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication Working Conditions

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employees may not be able to easily leave the work area unless for a scheduled break.

The employee must be able to deal with people effectively under adverse and/or stressful conditions, occasionally be persuasive, use judgment, and exhibit patience.
