Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Collections Specialist to join our team. This individual will play a vital role in managing billing processes and ensuring the timely collection of payments from patients and insurance providers. Key Responsibilities

  • Contact patients to collect outstanding balances on their accounts.
  • Negotiate payment plans and settlements with patients.
  • Document all collection activities in the patient’s account records.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Work closely with the billing department to resolve billing issues.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and answer their questions regarding their accounts.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims and appeal denied claims when necessary.
  • Monitor accounts for discrepancies and take appropriate action to correct them.
  • Generate reports on collection activities and account statuses.
  • Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations and collection practices.

Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in patient collections or a related field. Strong understanding of medical billing and coding. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Proficiency in using billing and collection software. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality practices.
