The Student Health Services Supervisor of Billing Operations supervises and coordinates the daily functions of the front desk and medical billing to optimize customer service, patient flow, scheduling, and revenue. This position is the primary point of contact for patient billing questions and supervises front desk, pre-certification, referrals, and billing and coding staff.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

To manage all aspects of front desk operations and billing for UAB’s Student Health Services. Supervises the front desk of Student Health Services, ensuring adequate staffing, excellent customer service, efficient patient flow, and coordination with nursing and provider staff on scheduling. Train front desk staff and evaluate performance. Monitors and analyzes telephone usage and service. Reviews and approves time sheets for payroll processing. Supervises and monitors all billing operations, including insurance verification process, tickets and claims filed by billing coordinator, medical records requests from payors, communications with MSO billing, and provider credentialing. Establishes and administers internal procedures related to billing. Analyzes revenue cycle using MSO reports. Manages Coordination of Benefit documentation and pre-existing questionnaires. Serves as point of contact for patient billing questions, maintains knowledge of billing practices, including current ICD and CPT coding information. Reviews Medical Assistant Grant applications for billing errors. Orders and manages non-clinical office supplies for clinic. Documents quarterly terminal inspections per compliance requirements. Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Pay Range:

$47,665 – $77,455

Qualifications Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, Business Management or a related field and three (3) years of related experience is required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

Preferences:

Medical Billing and Coding Experience Skills Revenue Cycle Management Skills Conflict Resolution and Teamwork Skills Prefer BA/BS, but Associate’s degree with 5 years’ experience in medical office management and billing with CPC certification is acceptable
