Job Description:
Job Purpose The Billing Specialist is responsible for compiling data and submitting claims to insurance companies as well as billing patients. Essential Job Functions Input the appropriate diagnostic codes of various medical services and ensure that all diagnostic codes meet all federal, legal, and insurance regulations. Enter charges according to business operations and procedural guidelines. Post insurance payments to patient accounts. Verify that payments received are accurate and correct according to fee schedules. Ensure all EOB’s are scanned and saved. Review, research and generate third party billing claims Perform basic customer service for routine patient or other inquiries. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be proficient in using computers and common office equipment. Must be detail-oriented and able to prioritize tasks. Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Education/Experience Must have high school diploma or equivalent Prefer at least (1) year experience in medical billing. Working Conditions This position works in the business office of a medical billing company and has no direct contact with patients. Physical Requirements This position requires that the employee be able to sit at a desk in front of a computer for up to eight hours a day. Some walking and standing may be required in order to confer with co-workers and managers. Direct Reports This position is not a supervisory position.
