Rate of pay is commensurate with education and prior relevant experience.
Summary:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for working unpaid claims, timely and accurately. The Billing Specialist provides on-going follow up on open balances to ensure payment is received promptly. The Billing Specialist also works claims requiring correction and resubmission. This position also researches unpaid claims, using various methods (i.e. phone calls, web portals, etc.). T o perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/ or ability required. Position requires constant mental alertness, attention to detail, and high degree of accuracy required in completing all assignments. Strong problem-solving skills, smart, driven, exceptional work ethic. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and follow- through on all assignments. Ability to work well in a group setting and independently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Proper communication and documentation of issues found while completing claim follow up Identify billing issues and communication to appropriate staff member tp ensure clean future claims Maintain daily productivity levels, as outlined by management Conduct regular reviews of unpaid claims patterns and make recommendations to improve operational efficiency and reduce the occurrence of denials. Assist with a variety of projects and perform other duties as assigned
Key Competencies:
Proven work experience as a Medical Biller or similar role Solid understanding of billing software and electronic medical records Must have the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively Attention to detail and accuracy Excellent verbal and written communication skills Outstanding problem solving and organizational skills
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent Research and analysis of unpaid and denied claims, including payor communication, resubmission and appeals
Preferred Experience:
Minimum 2 year’s experience as Medical biller or similar role
