Performs a variety of billing functions for the Fire Prevention Bureau of the Fire Rescue Department and provides information to customers, processes various billed services and accounts and complies records of charges for services rendered.

In accordance with Article 24 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769, for posting purposes this open-competitive job posting shall be considered as a simultaneous internal and external posting (it is open to both internal City employees and external applicants).

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. Initiates and performs the billing process for fire prevention fees and other charges billed by the City’s Fire Rescue DepartmentPrepares and produces monthly and annual bills for mailing to customers showing an itemized account of the amount owed to the CityProvides customer service by answering telephones and responding to account inquiriesResolves customer billing inquiries, complaints, and issues via phone, email, and fax machineReviews and reconciles accounts for accuracy and completenessCreates and monitors new accounts.

Communicates with third party billing vendors on behalf of the department.

Prepares and distributes various records, reports, notices and other relevant materialsPerforms related work as required
