Job Description

Description A Healthcare Payment Processor plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless processing of payments and reimbursements within the healthcare industry. This role involves managing patient billing, processing insurance claims, reconciling payments, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of medical billing and coding practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Payment Processing:

+ Process payments from patients, insurance providers, and third-party payers accurately and in a timely manner. + Reconcile payments and resolve discrepancies between payments received and billing statements. +

Billing and Claims Management:

+ Assist in the preparation and submission of medical claims to insurance providers. + Monitor claims to ensure timely processing and follow up on unpaid or denied claims. + Validate accuracy of billing codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) to avoid errors or rejections. +

Patient Interaction:

+ Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries, payment processing, and account balances. + Set up payment plans and address any patient concerns while maintaining a high level of customer service. +

Reconciliation and Reporting:

+ Maintain and update accurate financial records, including payment logs and reports. + Reconcile daily, weekly, and monthly payments to match internal records with external statements. + Prepare financial statements and summaries for management as needed. +

Regulatory Compliance:

+ Adhere to federal and state regulations, including HIPAA, when handling sensitive financial and patient information. + Stay updated with changes to industry regulations, including insurance policies and billing procedures. + Collaboration with

+ Work closely with the billing and accounts receivable teams to ensure streamlined financial operations. + Collaborate with healthcare practitioners and administrative staff regarding patient accounts and payment inquiries.

Requirements Qualifications:

+ High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in healthcare administration, finance, or related field is preferred. + Experience in medical billing, coding, or payment processing (2+ years preferred). + Proficiency in medical billing systems and software such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech is an advantage. + Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes, Explanation of Benefits (EOB), and third-party payer systems. + Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and medical coding (CPT, ICD-10) is highly desirable.
