The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding and submission of claims, and facilitating communication between healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies. This role is essential in maintaining the financial health of our medical practice while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Duties Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems. Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies for reimbursement. Review patient records to ensure all necessary documentation is complete and accurate. Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and resolving discrepancies. Communicate with patients regarding their bills, payment plans, and insurance coverage. Maintain organized medical records to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in billing or coding. Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing and coding, preferably within a medical office setting. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical records management. Proficiency in using billing systems and software for claim submissions. Attention to detail with strong analytical skills to identify errors or inconsistencies in billing. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, and insurance representatives. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Certification in medical coding is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to pursue certification is encouraged.
