Description
The Payment Specialist is responsible for timely billing functions, including posting of charges, electronic and paper insurance billing, and collecting accounts receivables.
The Payment Specialist also conducts training, serves as a primary resource for billing system changes, responds to patient inquiries and resolves problems with third party payers.

- Required Duties & Responsibilities
- Enter all payments according to contract terms, fee schedules and third-party regulations to patient accounts in an accurate and timely manner utilizing information provided on Explanation of Benefits (EOB)
- Post payments received from third party payers to patient accounts in an accurate, efficient and timely manner to move billing process towards resolution
- Examines payment document to determine proper account posting for accuracy
- Posts amounts to correct account or to holding account for timely resolution
- Receives requests for refunds from patients, third party payers and physicians for accurate and timely processing
- Researches payments, adjustments and other documentation to determine appropriate amount and to whom the refund should be made
- Communicates with insurance companies, patients and physicians to clarify any questions
