In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding patient diagnoses and procedures, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and facilitating the billing process for medical services. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing practices. Duties Review and analyze patient records to extract necessary information for coding purposes. Assign appropriate ICD-10 codes for diagnoses and procedures based on established guidelines. Ensure accurate billing by verifying codes against medical records and documentation. Process medical claims and follow up on outstanding accounts to ensure timely payment. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation or coding. Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Stay updated on changes in coding standards, regulations, and insurance policies to ensure accuracy in billing practices. Experience Proven experience in medical billing and coding is preferred, with familiarity in ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems. Knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) classifications and their application in billing processes is a plus. Experience working in a medical office environment, handling medical collections, and managing patient records effectively. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Proficient understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology as it relates to coding practices.
