Medical Insurance & Billing Assistant The Neurological Center of East Georgia, P.C 1601 Fair Road, Statesboro, GA 30458 Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for insurance eligibilities, accurate coding and submission of medical claims, completing medical appeals, posting payments, and communicating with patients and insurance companies regarding claims processing. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced medical office environment. Responsibilities Perform insurance eligibility checks to determine insurance coverage and patient out-of-pocket expenses. Review and verify patient information and medical records for accuracy before billing. Code diagnoses and procedures using CPT and ICD-10 coding systems. Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and government programs. Follow up on unpaid claims, resolving any discrepancies or issues that arise. Maintain detailed records of billing activities and patient accounts. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation is available for billing purposes. Send patient statements and handle past due accounts. Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices. Assist in the training of new staff members on billing procedures and systems. Qualifications Proven experience in medical billing or coding within a healthcare setting is preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems (CPT, ICD-10). Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, medical billing software, and insurance physician portals. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a busy medical office environment. Effective communication skills to interact with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare professionals. Certification in Medical Billing or Coding is a plus but not required.
