Dental Billing Team Manager Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dental Billing Team Manager to oversee and optimize our dental billing operations. This role involves managing a team of billing specialists, ensuring accurate claim submissions & payment posting, reducing denials, and improving overall revenue cycle efficiency. This role will also be responsible for client relationship management. Patient statement and collection process may also be involved. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental billing, leadership experience, and a deep understanding of insurance policies and claim management. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management Supervise and support a team of billing specialists, establishing clear performance standards and conducting regular performance reviews. Foster a team culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement aligned with Tower’s values. Billing Operations & AR Strategy Oversee full-cycle dental billing: insurance verification, claims submission, EOB reconciliation, AR aging, denials management, and patient collections. Actively reduce AR over 30/60/90+ days across multiple clients using dashboards, workflows, and customized scorecards. Resolve claim issues and proactively report on key AR metrics and trends to internal teams and clients. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure billing operations are fully compliant with HIPAA, and ADA coding standards. Train team to follow documentation best practices, minimize denials, and reduce audit risk. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient financial and health records in accordance with all federal laws and client-specific policies. Client Communication & Consulting Support Act as the primary point of contact for client billing performance, proactively identifying areas for improvement and recommending solutions.Support consulting teams by preparing billing audits, KPI reports, and participating in virtual and onsite client sessions. Deliver coaching and communication support to client front office or billing team to improve internal billing practices. Training, SOPs & Innovation Develop and maintain SOPs to standardize billing processes and improve overall efficiency. Analyze denial trends and implement training or workflow changes to address root causes. Stay current with industry innovations and technology updates (Open Dental, Eaglesoft, Dentrix, etc.) and implement improvements.
Qualifications Required:
3-5 years of dental billing experience, including at least 2 years managing or supervising a team. Strong understanding of insurance plans, CDT coding, revenue cycle workflows, and claim resolution. Demonstrated ability to reduce outstanding AR and drive consistent collection performance. Proficiency with dental practice management and billing platforms. Excellent communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills. High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
Certification in Dental Billing, Revenue Cycle Management, or Practice Management (AADOM, ADA, or equivalent). Experience supporting multi-location practices or DSOs. Familiarity with medical-dental cross-coding and insurance portals. Ability to coach client teams and support consulting engagements with professionalism and ease.
Work Schedule:
Full-time position working at Tower Billing location, limited work from home ability depending on company needs.
