Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in medical billing within a practice that handles personal injury and workers’ compensation claims. Strong knowledge of medical coding, medical terminology, and CPT codes is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately prepare and submit claims for personal injury, workers’ compensation, and standard medical insurance ensuring compliance with all regulations. Ensure proper coding of procedures and services using CPT codes. Review medical records to ensure accurate coding and billing. Maintain accurate medical records and billing documentation in accordance with healthcare regulations. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and appeal when necessary. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing regulations and payer guidelines, especially for workers’ compensation. Communicate effectively with insurance companies, attorneys, and internal team members. Assist in resolving billing inquiries and patient account questions. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and practice policies. Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.

Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, with specific experience in personal injury and workers’ compensation cases. Proficient understanding of medical coding, medical terminology, and CPT codes. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, and insurance companies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, CCA) is highly preferred. Experience with CareCloud electronic health records system is a plus. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
