Job Description

Medical Payment Analyst Northside – Atlanta Cancer Care 1100 Johnson Ferry Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30342 The Payment Analyst isresponsible for daily posting of payments for Professional and Retail pharmacy claims, posting of zero pay denials, allocating copays to patient balances, running reports, submitting refund and transfer requests, submitting transfers to NSH, processing refund checks, daily balancing, and reconciling to ensure accurate balances reflect in patient accounts. Role and Responsibilities

  • Posts Medical and Retail Pharmacy Insurance payments and Patient payments daily
  • Allocation of copays and prepares the deposit bags for NSH Accounting
  • Corrects, conducts reversals if needed and applies patient and insurance payments including all bill types and corresponding contractual adjustments to patient accounts.
  • Lists unidentified payments to correct lockbox, documenting transactions to maintain adequate audit trail and posts received amounts to lockbox spreadsheet obtained from Wells Fargo
  • Resolves misdirected payments and submits refund requests to return incorrect payments to sender.
  • Copies any zero payments (denials) to appropriate Patient Account Representative for follow-up and posts appropriately to systems.
  • Submits live checks to Wells Fargo bank institution
  • Corrects and posts debit/credit adjustments of misapplied payments to ensure accurate and timely reporting of accounts.
  • Prepares and processes patient and insurance refunds
  • Prepares and processes transfers to NSH billing system (STAR)
  • Brings system related issues immediately to management’s attention.
  • Brings possible process improvement to management’s attention to discuss/review
  • Participates in recommended online educational classes through ADP
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Adhere to the Standards of Excellence Qualifications and Education Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent education and a minimum of two (2) years related experience in Registration and/or Insurance Verification in a medical setting is required.

Preferred Skills Knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills and team oriented. Ability to multi-task and work effectively in teams Computer Skills Microsoft Office programs. Basic printing/faxing/scanning Language and Mathematical Skills English (reading, writing and verbal); Basic Math Skills Physical Demands This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting or standing, repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. It also may require occasional lifting, carrying, walking, kneeling, bending/stooping, twisting, pulling/pushing and reaching above the shoulder. This position also may require the occasional lifting of equipment up to 25 lbs.
