Maintaining accurate balances in accordance with contractual obligations, fee schedules, or regulations is a required job duty. The Billing Specialist must possess critical thinking skills and understand the Medicare and Texas Medicaid eligibility requirements as well as commercial insurance payers’ payment methods to correctly adjust or resubmit claims as needed. In addition, the Billing Specialist must demonstrate proficiency with learning the billing system to ensure all functionality is utilized for the efficient processing of claims. Responsibilities Monitor accounts to identify outstanding claims Research and notate each outstanding claim Find and contact insurances regarding denied claims Take actions to resubmit claims in a timely manner Ensure all accounts are being attentive to on a monthly basis Skills Experience with Medical Billing of Medicare or Medicaid claims (Institutional, long-term care, SNF claims preferred) Knowledge of Texas Medicaid and researching insurance eligibility Knowledge of billing procedures Working knowledge of Point Click Care or similar healthcare software Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and databases Patience and ability to manage stress due to sudden changes Excellent communication skills (written and oral) Problem-solving skills; multitasking and ability to work under pressure High school diploma Must be a team player and willing to follow and learn the current process and procedures Certified with Medical Billing and Coding or 1 year experience required
